Exchange Scarf | Bobbi Kyle

The project challenge presented was to choose an object from Shelley Turkle’s novel “Evocative Objects”, and to re-imagine or re-invent the chosen object. I chose to examine a bracelet as an object of memory and exchange. To transform the object, I chose to remove the precious aspect of gifting/exchange working with the wabi-sabi ideal of impermiance. This ideal is that nothing lasts, nothing is perfect and nothing is ever complete. My goal was to re-imagine exchange without the use of precious metals thus creating a wearable system of exchange that highlights thoughtful connection and meaning through craft amongst a network of friends.
